It’s supposed to be a nice weekend in the DMV and there are plenty of fairs and festivals to keep you entertained! We suggest checking out the Virginia Wine Festival and Maryland Renaissance Festival.

Washington, DC Events

National Hispanic Heritage Month

During National Hispanic Heritage Month, September 15th through October 15th, America celebrates the culture and traditions of Spanish speaking residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

The District Flea

Time: Saturdays, September 14- October 19 from 10am-5pm
Expect 70-80 vendors of everything from vintage eyeglass frames to antique furniture and vintage clothing at this big, new flea market on a 37,000 square foot lot in Shaw, created by the producers of New York’s famous Brooklyn Flea. For foodies: Look out for food trucks including Red Hook Lobster Pound, and a beer garden manned by ChurchKey’s Greg Engert.

The 38th annual Virginia Wine Festival is coming to the area and you are invited! The Virginia Wine Festival, the largest wine festival in Virginia, features wine tastings from 50 Virginia wineries, gourmet food samples, seminars, concerts, arts and crafts and much more! General admission tickets are still available to purchase.

Mt Vernon Colonial Craft Fair
3200 Mount Vernon Memorial Hwy., Mt. Vernon, VA
Time: Saturday & Sunday, 9am-5pm
Price: Free with purchase of a general admission ticket
Join in all the fun as the historical Mt Vernon re-creates an early American marketplace complete with artist demonstrations, family entertainment and 18th-century amusements!

Dulles Day Festival and Plane Pull 
Washington Dulles International Airport, Dulles, VA
Time: Saturday, 11am-4pm
Price: Free
How many people does it take to win a tug of war against a 164,000 pound Airbus? Find out at the Dulles Day Plane Pull, where teams of 25 grab a rope and try to move an airplane 12 feet along the runway. Other events include a truck pull for kids, a pizza eating contest, carnival games and a display of historic aircraft, including the landing and takeoff of a Harrier jet at 12:30pm

Anne Arundel County Fair

Price: Adults $6 Children $4
The Anne Arundel County Fair is an annual event held in Crownsville, Maryland that dates back to 1953. The fair includes a full range of entertainment for the whole family including carnival rides and games, animal exhibits, monster trucks, pony rides, garden tractor pulls, pig races, pie eating contests, a talent show, live music and much more!


Maryland Renaissance Festival

The Maryland Renaissance Festival recreates a 16th century English village with crafts, food, live performances on 8 stages, a jousting arena and lots of games.

Charles County Fair

The Charles County Fair celebrates 353 years of agricultural heritage and history with, livestock, field corn, arts and crafts, quilts and flower displays, demonstrations, a carnival, live entertainment, special events, games, a baby show, pig races, pony rides, food and drink and more! You won’t want to miss that family favorite event!

Great Frederick Fair

The Frederick County Fair is one of the oldest agricultural fairs in the state of Maryland dating back to 1822. The event is held each September and features live entertainment, tractor pulls, carnival rides, an equine expo and showcase, agricultural events, educational activities, contests, food and many more great activities!

Hyattsville Arts Festival

Time: Saturday, 11am-5pm
Price: Free
The Hyattsville Arts Festival is an annual celebration highlighting the most talented artisans in the Washington DC area. More than 50 local artisans will be displaying their work this year alongside feature performances by musicians, dancers, and street performers. New for this year, visitors will find an exciting new housing to tour, including new apartments, condos, and row homes.

Locust Point Festival

Price: Free admission. Cornhole tournament is $10 per team of 2.
Join in all the fun with food, live music, family activities and games! You can even sign up for a cornhole tournament from 2pm to 5pm.
